Organization Chart, Roles, and Selection of the Journal’s Human Team

In order to provide greater transparency, this section presents the structure of the roles held by the different members of the journal, as well as the functions of each position.

Editor-in-Chief

  • Administers the journal and acts as its highest representative.
  • Coordinates the staff assigned to the journal.
  • Disseminates and promotes the journal through different channels.
  • Establishes strategies to improve the journal’s positioning.

Associate Editors

  • Support and advise the Editor-in-Chief.
  • Assume the functions of the Editor-in-Chief in case of absence.
  • Carry out tasks assigned by the Editor-in-Chief.
  • Propose improvements for the journal.

Section Editors

The journal has three Section Editors:

  • Section Editor for Physical Education
  • Section Editor for Sport
  • Section Editor for Psychomotricity
  • Review manuscripts and decide which should be processed.
  • Manage the peer review process and assign reviewers.
  • Ensure compliance with submission guidelines.
  • Accept articles proposed by reviewers and the Scientific Committee.

Editorial Board

  • Advises the Editor-in-Chief.
  • Supports the journal’s editorial policy.
  • Proposes recommendations for improvement.
  • Oversees editing, layout, and the editorial process.
  • Promotes and disseminates the journal.
  • Is composed of professionals from different countries.
  • Guides accepted manuscripts to Section Editors.
  • Approves the final layout before publication.

Translation Department

  • Translates the journal’s sections, regulations, and forms.
  • Supervises the quality of translations of abstracts, titles, and keywords.

Scientific Committee

  • Ensures the scientific quality of the journal.
  • Advises the Editorial Board.
  • Reviews articles through a double-blind peer review process.
  • Approves or rejects submissions, providing feedback.

External Reviewers

  • Review submitted articles anonymously through a double-blind system.
  • Recommend acceptance or rejection with justification.

Appointment Process for Editorial Positions

SPORTIS establishes a transparent procedure based on academic merit for appointing the Editor-in-Chief, in accordance with international best practices and the principles of COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics).

Requirements for the Editor-in-Chief

  • Proven research experience in Physical Education, Sport, Psychomotricity, or related fields.
  • High-quality publications in indexed journals.
  • Experience in editorial management or research coordination.
  • Commitment to ethical principles and scientific integrity.

Selection Process

  • Evaluation of academic and editorial merits.
  • Consultation with the Editorial Board.
  • Formal appointment by Campus Educa Sportis.
  • Publication of the appointment on the journal’s website.

Term and Termination

  • The position has no fixed term but is periodically reviewed.
  • Termination may occur due to resignation, incompatibility, or justified editorial decision.

Appointment of Other Roles

The Editor-in-Chief and the editorial team appoint the remaining members, including the Scientific Committee and External Reviewers, ensuring compliance with the journal’s good practices.
