Abstract

The aim of this research is to develop a theoretical model that explains the relationship between teacher competence, parenting style, social media, physical literacy, and student physical activity. This study used a quantitative approach with a non-experimental design, involving 620 junior high school students aged 11-16 years (318 boys and 302 girls). Variance analysis (ANOVA) showed no significant differences in physical literacy by age and gender, as well as in physical activity by age, but there were significant differences in physical activity by gender, where male students were higher than females. A theoretical model that connects the variables of teacher competence, parenting style, social media, physical literacy, and physical activity was tested with Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) resulting in a model that corresponds to empirical data (Cmin/df = 3.0; CFI = 0.947; GFI = 0.943; AGFI = 0.920; RMSEA = 0.057). The results showed that teacher competence, parenting style, and social media had a direct effect on physical literacy and indirectly affected physical activity through physical literacy, while physical literacy played a role as a mediator that affected students' physical activity.
