Data driven inclusive sports management: a pilot evaluation of information system usability in para-badminton athlete tracking

Effective data management plays an important role in supporting the development of inclusive sports, including para-badminton. However, the adoption of information technology in disability sports has not been optimal and still tends to lag behind. This study aims to examine a prototype-based system designed to improve the management of inclusive sports, particularly in terms of usability, information accessibility, and the monitoring of training activities as well as athlete performance. The research employed a quantitative approach using a one-group pretest-posttest design, involving 30 coaches and para-badminton athletes selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through a combination of Likert-scale questionnaires, interviews, and direct observations to gain a comprehensive understanding of user experiences. The collected data were then analyzed using descriptive statistics and paired sample t-tests.. The results indicate that the system demonstrates a high level of usability (mean > 4.20), with user satisfaction reaching 84%, along with significant improvements in operational efficiency, evidenced by a reduction in recording time from 15 minutes to 5 minutes and increases of more than 30% in data accessibility, training monitoring, and performance documentation, with a significance value of p < 0.05. The findings conclude that the implementation of a web-based information system referring to the Sistem Informasi PBSI platform (https://si.pbsi.id/) is effective in enhancing management efficiency, data-driven athlete development, and accessibility in inclusive sports, thereby contributing to the advancement of technology-based sport management and more adaptive and sustainable disability athlete development practices.
