The “Vamos Equipo” program was implemented in Uruguay in 2020 as an outreach initiative in primary education. Its objective was to promote sports participation and strengthen children's rights. This research explored the conceptual and practical aspects surrounding the program's implementation, analyzing its effects on the training of its participants. Using a qualitative methodological approach, program regulations and the opinions of eight focus groups with teachers and participants were examined. The study found that the community impact in the neighborhood is limited, but that, from the children's perspective, the program expands access to sports and promotes civic values among children. However, its implementation requires greater conceptual precision and needs to strengthen its inclusive strategies.
